Many critics avoid a review score because people often ignore what's been said/written and focus entirely on the score, plus scores are meaningless now. People complain when games get the "insultingly low" rating of 8/10, and I've literally seen reviews where someone spends five minutes complaining about a game only to give it an 8.6/10 or something equally stupid. Review scores are largely useless now.
