I know what you mean.
When I was looking for a new Monitor, I spend weeks narrowing the options to just a handful of suspects and then another few more days looking for reviews, user opinions (I recommend the Display forum in HardForum), etc. and then looking for the best prices for them until I decided for my current one (it was on a sale, and that helps a lot 
).
Hopefully, I won't have to replace it in 2 or 3 more years, minimum.
