It's an okay launch. Much better than I expected, but not mind blowing numbers either. The main thing now is it will hold in the next week and in the next 5 weeks (until the end of March). In order for the PS4 to have a shot at dominating the JP console market, and therefore bringing us JP centric games, then more games that cater to their needs need to be scheduled and released. Right now we have the following set in stone:

MGSV:GZ - 03/20

FFXIV: RR - 04/14

In a perfect world, smaller titles would come out consistently throughout the year and the release schedule for big/bigger titles would look something like this:

Deep Down - May

Lily Bergamo - June

PS4VR with Drive Club - June

GT6XL - July

TLOUGOTY - July

Evil Within - August

GTAVGOTY -August

DQX - August

Persona 5 - September

DQVIIHD - October

Dark Souls 2 - November

Monster Hunter Online - December

Nothing unrealistic, nothing out of the ordinary, no megatons, lots of ports, lots of multiplat games, no real exclusives besids DD and VR headset, but, along with consistent smaller title releases, just enough to keep a healthy baseline. I would also like to see sony gamble and release Singstar:JP edition (Karaoke Joysound sold 250K there), it could catch some interest, especially with camera support.

The 2nd year is just as important, look at the PS2 games on its second year:

That would be hard for the PS4 to match, but FFXV, KHIII, GT7, MGSV:PP (or complete edition, i.e. GZ+PP), TLG, DQVIIIHD remake, Uncharted 4 would probably match or exceed it. Kawano recently said Sony needs to work hard to make the PS4 sell as much as the PS2 and I agree. It's doable, but it will require a lot of hard work and a lot of deals, exclusive or otherwise, with 3rd parties.
