I also use digital games, but if I have the choice, I prefer a disc. I just don't believe that discs have to die. I think both can co-exist quite well. Also, I don't like the thought that one day you can't buy games anymore at a local store. In a full digital world, retailers won't sell them because the platform holders will want to maximise their profits. After all, not havong to pay retailers is one of the main points of digital distribution. With no games to offer, retailers will also stop to sell the hardware. Why should they bother? They make little to no profit with that. I still remember the PS3. retailers in germany had to pay 624 € for it. If they sold it for 599, they got a 25 € voucher from Sony. Pretty crazy. Digital is cool and all, but in a digital only future, I will likely quit gaming altogether. Wouldn't be so bad as there are enough games for me to play until all eternity right now. But it still would make me kinda sad. Now for that particular bundle (just to get a little back to topic :P) I think it's totally fair to put it in digitally. After all, you get the game "for free" (you don't, but it's like with those PS Plus games. They are not technically free, but it feels that way. You get the whole idea :P). Collector's still have the chance to get it in a box if they truly want, so I'm fine with that. |
Oh, noes! Not bunny cry. Bunnies are like the best beings in the universe. All they want to do is eat, play, sleep and play.

I'm not saying disk have to die. I am saying they are dying. I don't think there will be many retail game stores in 5-10 years. It's like buggy whip sales crashed as cars became more popular. There just isn't as much need for them anymore.
I like getting cheap used games. But I do realize that means that the creators of it aren't getting more money to make more. Any maybe someday we will be able to sell digital licenses. As that's all you really get to own of a game.
PS Wait? Why do you have to leave gaming if it goes digital? Already some phone tethering was used for people playing TitanFall. Even if you can't get a high speed fiber optic - cellular service is getting quick enough.
