Good for you, at least your supporting the consoles you like because of the games.

My brother got a WiiU and we setup together about 8months ago, our experience with it was frustrating to say the least. I won't bother to mention the firmware updates cuz they've been beaten to death, but as of today the OS in it is just so limited and friggin slow, I dare say slower than even the PS3 OS. Making anything other than just gaming a chore.

The WiiU pad has terrible battery, and I mean terrible, so terrible my brother cracked the shits and ordered the larger official Nintendo battery from Japan cuz it wasn't sold locally (Fuck you Nintendo), it's gone from terrible to decent so it's not to bad now. Then there is the crappy range of the WiiU pad, as soon as there is a friggin wall the connection craps out, but I suppose it's a limit of the special wireless tech they've used.

I will say that I did enjoy playing some Sonic olympic game with my brother, and I also played a little of W101 but both games in my opinion had really annoying uses of the WiiU pad, let me look at which ever screen I want but don't fucking force me to look at the screens you want. Fucking sonic Olympics, look at screen, now look at WiiU pad, ok now back to your screen, oopps I mean the pad...seriously Sega fuck you!

DVD/BD play back, I know the typical response, we don't need another DVD player blah blah bloody blah. To that I say, we live in 2014, every digital device is converging from mobile phone being mini computers to TV's and blu-ray players streaming from the net, it's just they way things are, so for the WiiU to not even have an option is baffling. There is nothing stopping Nintendo from having an app on their eShop which enables the playback.
I say this because I DON"T own a DVD or Blu-ray player, space limited, so my brother and I love the fact that our PS3 and now my PS4 can playback DVD/BD discs.

In contrast my experience with the PS4 was just amazing out the box, the OS is just so friggin smooth and fast even when in a game, multitasking is great. Sure I had to do a firmware upgrade after installing a 1TB hybrid drive, but that was a fast and painless experience. Surprisingly the game installs and boot time are hella fast, I was bracing for longer loads and installs cuz games are now larger but doesn't seem to be the case.

Yeah sure there are things I can nit pick from the PS4, like the fact that their is no DLAN/USB media play back, or the fact that I can't dump my ingame recordings to a USB, but at the very least I am certain Sony will update this through more firmware updates like they did with the PS3 added features (Currently the best media hub I own). The DS4 has a shorter battery than the DS3 (it manages 6 hours which is decent though not desirable), but the overall experience has been extremely good thus far.

Graphics I won't bother mentioning cuz clearly the PS4 is just the more capable machine.

Other than that it comes down to games, and ones own preference of games and game genres, and since anything with games is subjective to each persons likes and dislikes and I can't say anything more than I like Sony's first party offering the best. Also, I do like allot of the 3rd party offerings which aren't on WiiU and if they were the PS4 would offer the best versions.

In any case, that has been my experiences with both the WiiU and my PS4, from a different perspective. So take what I've written with a grain of salt, it is after all my own opinions of my experience.
