It wasnt just Mario Kart that turned things around, it was cutting the base price by 1/3 plus Mario Kart, 3D Land and in Japan Monster Hunter followed up by a steady stream of quality software from that point forward.
Wii U would have needed the base price to be $199-249 along with 3D World+Mario Kart 8+Monster Hunter 4 during the holidays plus no more droughts in order to have a similar turnaround as 3DS.
When the herd loses its way, the shepard must kill the bull that leads them astray.
