That's not a bad idea at all. It won't happen but it would be nice to have a slider bar or had multiple choice settings with explanations.
Most console gamers wouldn't touch them, though, which is probably why it would be considered an unnecessary expense. Developers and publishers are probably also afraid it would make them look bad, that they couldn't perfectly hit their targets.
In the end, it's just wishful thinking.
