If Sony would've paid them for exclusivity Versus would've launched on the PS3. You can tell MS talked to them and they dragged the development out to be on the PS4 and Xbox One.

Why do you suppose that MS talked to them? The FFXIII games were on the Xbox 360, mostly because the console did more than well-enough to justify a port.

And Nomura (the director of the game) said the reason they moved development to the PS4 and XOne was due to the project becoming more ambitious and the fear of losing sales due to hype associated with new platforms.


Yes, but Sony and Square had a contract for Versus 13 to be exclusive. Square changed the name and changed the console, thus changing the contract, savy? It makes sense. Microsoft talked to them. They lost a far greater audience by going next gen than staying last gen with Sony.
