The US has way more guns than any other developed country, and as a result, they have a murder rate of a third world country. Maybe if you live in the "ghetto" you would be afraid of things like this, but in most "normal" communities in the US people aren't afraid of getting shot or even seeing a gun.

Typical that this would be turned into a problem with the US and not with this isolated incident, though.
