I actually didn't think about it this way. When you think about it. When you're in the wild-west, it's often going to be shoot them or risk being shot. This is the major problem with American brain-washing into thinking having more guns means more safety. The US has way more guns than any other developed country, and as a result, they have a murder rate of a third world country. People are afraid in the US because of all the guns and murders, and this includes the police officers.

Maybe if you live in the "ghetto" you would be afraid of things like this, but in most "normal" communities in the US people aren't afraid of getting shot or even seeing a gun.
Typical that this would be turned into a problem with the US and not with this isolated incident, though.
