Considering how backwards MS has treated the region, stumbling was expected. MS didn't churn out great JRPGs for 2 years. They produced two EVER and bought a few exclusives here and there. Everybody "buys" games from devs. What does Sony does with second party games like Heavy Rain and Beyond: Two Souls?

If MS buys games it's well done!! I love Gears and Alan Wake, so I hope they buy more of them.
