It sounds reasonable. Either they really weren't ready or they planned to steadily improve the thing over the span of the first year.
PS4 isn't much better though. Just imagine if it had launched with PSNow and the PS1/2 emulator.
If you demand respect or gratitude for your volunteer work, you're doing volunteering wrong.
