You know, It kind of makes me wonder why they don&t just friggin kickstarter the idea, you&re not telling me there aren't enough nostalgia FF7 fans out there willing to put towards a remake, there would EASILY be enough to fund it and then some.

The idea that you can fund a AAA game is just stupid. The biggest Kickstarter ever in terms of gaming was I believe the Ouya with 8.5 million. You can add 10 or even 20 million more to be nice and it probably won't be enough to make a full FF VII remake the way both SE and fans want.

To put things in perspective, FF XII costed $48 million to make. It is speculated that FF XIII costed at least $60 million

The story, script, scenarios and localization, text and music are already done, all they would need to do is redraw the backgrounds and remodel the characters and enemies then render up some pretty FMV.

A large portion of development cost for xii and xiii is the game engine and extensive 3d world modeling as well as extensive voice acting and entire music scores being created from scratch..

If you think a ff7 remake faithful to the original would cost anywhere near ffxii you're kidding yourself.
