I had the misfortune of never finding a good server to play on, the ones I found were mostly populated by 100 people or even less, making the huge maps more a hassle than a boon.
And with 2/3 of them being Snipers, it was damn near impossible to get anywhere as soon as you exited your vehicle.
But, the gameplay is pretty good and some of those massive battles look like fantastic fun, Planetside is the one franchise that shows that massive online multiplayer shooters are doable, and even great fun.
