Parts have been relatively cheap so far, but that will end soon now that the PS4 and XBOne are out and developers stop making versions of their games for the PS3 and 360. Lowering the licensing fees would, hopefully, help offset the higher costs for porting and convince at least a couple publishers to keep making games for Wii U. And making more games for Nintendo's existing audience won't help Wii U sales much. If your product is failing, you don't continue to appeal to the same consumers you already have, you try to bring in new ones. More Nintendo games won't bring in new consumers. As for your other replay, a few retailers slashing the price of their Wii Us isn't the same as an official price cut. Not everyone is aware of these special offers, but if Nintendo announces a price drop, everyone (mostly) will know that the Wii U is $200 now. And I think a $200 gamepadless SKU would be much more appealing than the current one. I, personally, see little value in the gamepad, and I think a $200 price for the Wii U would be absolutely perfect. I'd certainly consider buying it at that price. |
I dunno it depends on the amount of work nessescary because you know, thy're porting directly from a PC, so optimization rquired varies from here on out, its a case by case basis in relation to the expenses incurred.
And no the PS3 isnt actually being dropped yet.
As for the gamepad, its an incredibly useful device, and Nintendo has NFC games coming out and the next Zelda game is going to have puzzles and other specifications for how its utilized, so I think Nintendo needs to
Taking the gamepad out wont make the system cheap enough to cut it down to 200$ maybe 250$ at best
I mean the thing practically is 295$ already in the Windwaker bundles and the Windwaker game is 50$. So Thats a 250$ console that comes packed with other stuff and then you can buy extra storage for 50$.
