Of course they will, that's what happened with the PS2. 

That's because if you wanted to play big titles like GTA, MGS, FF, Kingdom Hearts, Devil May Cry, and a plethora of other third party titles, you needed a PS2.

That's not the case today... all those series I just listed are multiplatform.

The title said if the XBO fails, will the WiiU flourish? Those multiplat games aren't coming to WiiU so that leaves the PS4 as the only option. 

I know that, and my point was that we would not see a repeat of the PS2 era because the X1 will not "fail" in the sense that it will have the plug pulled on it like the Saturn, Dreamcast or GameCube did because it has strong 3rd party support and Sony no longer has the de-facto 3rd party exclusives it enjoyed during the PS1/2 eras.
