So they grew up with the principle that had to pay to enjoy games, they are the ones that are buying GTA V in masse, and are buying gaming consoles today. The new generation of kids won't learn that. Also, just because your 8 year old brother wasn't happy when he didn't got a PS4 doesn't mean all kids are. My 9 year old cousin is extremely happy with his Galaxy S3 mini and playing Angry Birds and Cut the Rope all day. The people that are buying PS4s and bought GTA V (the so called "hardcore" gamers) will eventually stop playing games, and the new generation will be the ones that will take over, the ones that will grow up playing mobile games. Edit: also, learn to read, I said $300+, meaning $300 is lowest you are currently paying (without counting deals obviously) for a gaming console, which is the Wii U. |
As a kid you dont pay for shit the parents do, be it a conolse or ipad the kid is not paying for anything. As you said parents do pay, pay for everything rent car fuel food games, then its a natural progression to adult that you pay for your own shit and gaming becomes a part of that. If you are a gamer you pay if you are a casual you enjoy tablet showelware.
Either way they are gaming, which opens them up to a possible future console buy. Your cousin is a casual, then there are gamers whom to that tablet games are just not enought. 400 and 500 consoles set records, learn to read that.
Its only natural the numbers of casuals will grow faster then the gamers but there will always be a dedicated gamer market and with the world pop increasing and more markets being able to afford such luxuries as gaming. The consol market is just fine.
2 out of the 3 new/next gen console came out setting record numbers = Doomed doomed i tells you lol.
