If Nintendo can give the WiiU strong support like they do 3DS combined with a new "phenomenon-type" game (Donkey Kong in early '80s/Mario Bros. in the mid to late 80's/Tetris in the early '90s/Pokemon in the mid to late'90s/ etc).
So far Nintendo have proved unable to do the former and it remains to be seen if the can do the latter. Also, a redesign could help (GBA to GBAsp/Nintendo DS to DSLite etc). Something less clunky and more apple-like.
In conclusion: Its unlikely, but possible.
