Some think MS making hardware is insane.
IF they could recover much of the $ they wasted on xbox whiel keeping some thing of worth like halo and gears ...... would it be such a bad idea for them, and maybe even keep some shares so old Billy can sleep well at night.

Yes it would be a massively bad idea. Ms isn't sony, they aren't so desperate for cash that they would give away a money making business to one of their biggest competitors while undermining several of their other divisions at the same time. It would not just be bad, it would be disasterous.

Making money, and how long will it take to make back all its loses. How will you be able to emotinally handle it if it comes out they are selling it ?

Emotionally I could not give a damn, though I would instantly ditch MS shares if they did something so insane. You don't give one of your largest competitors a leg up while you are battling for market share in some of the fastest growing markets. who gives a shit what they lost on the xbox in the past, it makes money now, by that token you must think Sony should also ditch the playstation brand.

No Xbox is of a minor importance. However devices and cloud services are of MASSIVE importance and selling Xbox to the largest competitor who bases their business on open stack and droid devices would be an unmitigated disaster for MS's devices, Azure services and for the OS division.
