Imagine if Nintendo made their own Steam network and made sure they sold games that could be run on computers that most people could afford or are currently using.
They can also sell retail games bundled with their own game controller to use with the PCs which would be less expensive than selling an entire home console. In fact, they can even make the games work with x-box controllers and make a deal with Microsoft to be their traditional gamecontroller developers.
The problem arises with 4 player games, but is it really that hard to find a decent size monitor and move your PCs (which are smaller now) or laptop (since they want games to run on most of the PCs in the market) to your living room and plug a HDMI cable to your TV? There's probably going to be ways to stream your PC monitor to your TV in the future anyway
They would be like classic Blizzard before Wolrd of Warcaft selling classic WarCraft, Diablo, and Starcraft games that had good enough graphics and ran on most PCs in the 90s.
What do you guys think? Should Nintendo do this if they unlikely decide to leave the home console market?
edit: Damn it I forgot about Piracy and Steam sales that make Nintendo's always 60$ games uncompetitive. Oh well.
