It seems like the only reason GZ is being released in retail packaging is for promotional purposes and for collectors and fans that would rather pay for a demo than wait for a complete package.

Gran Turismo Prologue anyone?

It would make so much more sense to release GZ as DD content on PSN and XBL, but apparently Konami is really attached to the idea of selling a physical product.

Personally, I like collectable MGS products; they're about the only ones I buy (MGS4 LE PS3, MGS Peace Walker PSP, various collectors editions), but it does cheapen a product when people who are not so invested in a franchise are expecting to buy a full game only to find out they're really just buying a prologue.

Konami also could have attached GZ to any other new gen game they're releasing in the near future by packaging it as a promotional item. It would actually sell copies of a game that might not have sold as well. So either Konami has no such game in the works to be released on the same time table, or GZ is more than just a "2 hour demo."
