Well not mass market, just the market altoghether. And if the market doesn't like it and only so few like it, then it isn't very good is it? It is the same as trying to flog a 1950's film now - the market has moved on and now deems that to be a bit crappy.

I said market, not mass-market. Mass market would be Skyrim sales of 10+ millions. Not even hitting a million on a platform that has 100 m on it? That means less than ONE PERCENT want the game. That isn't mass market - that is just a dead product that no one wants.

You more you talk, the more its clear you don't know what you're talking about. Then again, considering you weren't even aware of one of the most well known JRPGs of the past generation...
