What you guys are forgetting is...
a) PS2 sold over 100 million in 5 years, and the upcoming generation is poised to last a lot longer than that.
b) PS2 still kept selling even though the newer gen consoles were introduced in its 5th year. PS4 will be in the market without the pressure of the next gen consoles for at least 2-3 more years. So although it won't sell as much per year, overall it may end up selling as much.
b) PS3 sold 80 million in 7 years, and PS4 will definitely sell more than that.
c) PS3 sold that much with an initial price of $600, which is way over PS4's initial price at $400.
d) All the sales indicators show that PS4 will sell a lot definitely better than PS3, most likely better than Wii and PS1, and possibly as well as PS2. By the end of the 8th Gen (2020-2021),
PS4 will sell better than PS3 (80+ million)... probability >90%
PS4 will sell better than Wii and PS1 (100+ million)... probability > 80%
PS4 will sell as well as PS2 (150+ million)... probability is around 50%
