The difference with this is that the Wii U is currently being sold at a loss while the 3DS at the time was being sold at a profit. In addition, the performance of the Wii U during the time it was out on the market suggests a problem that can't be fixed with a simple price cut. If they can drop the cost of components, then a price cut will most likely happen, but if not then there's a risk of actually doing worse financially when you cut the price.
