I remember hearing that they were released together as a collection in Japan...
Advaced Wars 1 was scheduled to be released a few days after 9/11...
Once that happened, NoJ delayed te game so long that they just ended up releasing it with Advanced Wars 2...
Having said all this, I don't know how true it is...
