Respawn On Titanfall’s PC Version, Modding, DLC
By Nathan Grayson on February 13th, 2014 at 1:00 pm.
Titanfall is great. There is no getting around that, much like there is no getting around a giant robot’s titanic rhino-SUV foot cuff when it is stomping on you. But Respawn’s largely treated Titanfall like an Xbox game, preferring to let the PC version live in its all-too-proprietary shadow. So far, we know that our titans will unfortunately be tethered to Origin and… yep, that’s pretty much it. So I sat down with game director Steve Fukuda to find all about PC bonuses, configurations, balance issues that might arise from different control schemes, modding possibilities (probably don’t get your hopes up early on), and Respawn’s dislike of EA/Activision-style DLC cycles. It’s all below.
Project CARS Projects New Trailer, 2014 Release Date
By Graham Smith on February 13th, 2014 at 3:00 pm.
The latest trailer for Project CARS requires all the world’s air quotes while talking about: it’s the “first” trailer “introducing” Project CARS, because it’s “official”. Unlike all the other videos showing the game, which were community-made – just like this one, it seems – but without the seal of approval.
The video, and a recent batch of screensehots, are also “beautiful”, “oh geez look at those water droplets” and “bums now I need to upgrade my PC”. Does anyone really know how air quotes “work”?
Battlefield 4: Second Assault launching on February 18th, closely followed by Naval Strike in late March
CommentAfter many, many months, Battlefield 4’s Second Assault DLC is finally coming to platforms that aren’t the Xbox One. We already knew this though, because Origin jumped the gun and revealed the release date of February 18th last week.
So EA’s just confirming what we know but shouldn’t know: Second Assault will launch next Tuesday. But, because there’s always a but, that’s only for Premium members. Everyone else will have to wait another fortnight, when it launches for everyone on March 4th.
Arma 3 Zeus is Arma with a dash of Dungeons & Dragons
CommentArma 3 is getting some new DLC on top of the campaign chapters in the form of Zeus. It’s a free update that adds in a new form of multiplayer, giving players the powers of a Game Master, overseeing battles and editing content to create new stories, expanded mission content or especially tricky fights.
Basically, it’s Arma meets Dungeons & Dragons, and it sounds great. No wizards, though.
Farewell Blackwell: The Blackwell Epiphany is the soul-ripping conclusion to the series
CommentThere’s been such a flood of adventure games in the last couple of years that it’s become a challenge to separate the wheat from the chaff, something that you certainly couldn’t say back in the mid-2000s. You’re more than likely to find something a bit special when you browse the library of Wadjet Eye Games.
Dave Gilbert’s been designing and publishing his Blackwell series since before adventure games rose from the dead, and more recently started publishing adventure games from other designers, including the excellent Gemini Rue and Resonance.
Unfortunately - or fortunately if you like closure - the seven year running series is coming to an end with The Blackwell Epiphany, due out in April.
