I love the combat and mechanics of the games, my only 2 issues with the series as a whole would be...
-Needs In Door environments/locations. City can't feel real to me when I cannot enter into a single building.
-Side missions usually fee like.......side missions. What they SHOULD be is a Side "stories" or quests. I would really like to see Fallout/GTA type side quests that have their own plot and enrich the main characters. Randomly generated missions such as "Help Cops fight Convicts" are cool, but what if one of those cops had a name, and that cop tells you how he battles with resigning due to feeling futile, then your actions convince him to stay? Or side villains that offer a smaller but just as entertaining opposition. Look at Batman Arkham series. Sure, Joker is the main course but you also have the Riddler lurking about. Or Victor Sasz on some sort of killing spree. Attaching story elements to the stereotypical mission type really helps with masking the monotony.
I pray to god that Sucker Punch has figured this out with Second Son, because at this point its kinda inexcusable. Infamous was their first realistic style game, so I let it slide. I hoped with Infamous 2 they would do more to make Cole feel more like a true Comic Book Hero (Saddened by the lack of Sasha and Alden who are great side villains from the first, they should have been utilized in some side missions. They could really play with the fact Sasha is obsessed/in love with him). Now it's Delsin's turn, clean slate, 3rd game in the series. Lets get it right!
