I agree that it would be nice to see a game with more realistic reloading... but in general I don't like the emphasis on "realism" in FPS, I want to be able to reload in less than a second and carry a dozen huge guns and snipe with a handcannon (or at least snipe without having some daft slowed breathing button to press in addition to zoom/scope)

It would have been a nice addition to something like the original Resident Evil (or REmake) or other survival games.


Depends a lot on the game, in my opinion. Left 4 Dead is a prime example of realism taking the backseat in favor of smooth and faster gameplay while Fallout, Far Cry, TLOU and the likes are examples where immersion is vital to making the game more memorable. Battlefield is an example of having some of both.

Balancing is key.
