Platforming in FPS games. I hate that so much. You can't see well enough to platform when you can't see your own damn feet, you bastards! Understand that!
I'm playing Crysis 3 now, which seems to be a clinic in annoying design choices. For instance:
- Vehicle sections where you're the gunner and the driver is taking an erratic path. You can't aim worth a cat's rectum and when you try to lead a target the driver swerves. Not fun.
- FPS games where the shooting sucks. Seriously, what is with that. I'm barely using my guns because mid-range combat is worthless compared to close quarters.
- Games where the enemy AI always come to "investigate" a dead body, allowing you to rinse and repeat with your own personal kill-zone. There was one part where I had about 15 enemies piled up on the stairs. I would just wait at the top for the next AI to go "man down!" and walk over.
- Long areas of nothing but walking around. I don't get it. Just trying to show off the beautiful scenery? Padding the game's length? Yeah, okay, but it's kind of boring.
- Super predictable patterns. "Okay, I've killed all the enemies on the map, so I bet if I want in this direction ... ah, yes, there are the reinforcements from out of nowhere, just as expected."
