A few thoughts:
1. Next Level Games, now that they're basically a Nintendo second party, should become a multiple-games-at-a-time studio. They should at least be able to make 2 games at a time, so they can support both 3DS and Wii U without long waits. But regardless, more games from them is a good thing.
2. A lot of people are forgetting Monster Games. They have also unofficially been a Nintendo second party since Excite Truck in 2006. They made Pilotwings for 3DS, and ported DKCR and apparently have helped out somehow with the new DCKR, but they're a racing studio at heart. Chances are good that they'll either do another Excite game, or my secret hope, is that they'll make an amazing new HD Wave Race. Nintendo could do it themselves, but Monster is well qualified. In fact, they'd be a candidate to make an F-Zero as well. If they DID a new Excite game though, I wouldn't want them to ever do another "Excitebots". That game was okay, but a letdown. The little "mini-games" during races really break up the flow of the race, and it just lost it's luster quickly.
IF they did it, I'd like to see them make something more like Excite Truck, just flew it out more, online racing, and more vehicle types besides jeeps and trucks, like cars and naturally, motorbikes.
3. There are a few games that COULD technically be ready to fit into the March/April gap between DK and MK. "X" has been under development since shortly after Xenoblade was done, or localized in NA. So at the very least, it's still had about 2 years in development. Similarly, Good-Feel has been developing Yarn Yoshi, most likely, since at least 2011. So again, it's had plenty of time in the oven to be done by now. Bayonetta 2 has also been in development for a bit, so who knows how far along it is, but it might be almost ready too. So it's not outside the realm of possibility at all that at least one of those games might be ready.
4. If nothing else, I think we'll definitely get one or two more firm(er) release dates, so that at least will be worth it.
@Zorg1000
If they were gonna do that, I'd rather they remade "Yoshi", and not Yoshi's Cookie. As puzzler's go, it is SO much better (I think), and is one of my top favorite puzzlers, right up there with Bust a Move.
