Link GMG up to your Steam account and they’ll give you Post Apocalyptic Mayhem for free
CommentGreen Man Gaming are the nice website we've had past dealings with who quite often sell Steam keys for a little bit cheaper than Steam do. They’re currently pushing the Rewards beta for their Playfire gaming social network, and would quite like it if you linked your existing Steam account with one of theirs.
“What’$ in it for me?”, you might say, as if struggling to feel out an ‘evil’ route through an RPG. Well, here’s what: a game about wacky racing through Fallout 3 Land to thrash metal - and the potential for more.
Rust's new anti-cheat system is working - but Facepunch are "never going to be finished fighting"
CommentRust’s thing is survival at any cost - and since its Steam release, a subset of players have chosen to interpret that as a green light to cheat and exploit not just other players, but the game itself.
Apparently tired of waiting for Valve’s anti-cheat system to kick in, Rust creators Facepunch have built and implemented their own temporary solution over the weekend. In the time since, they’ve issued more than 4,500 bans.
EA CCO says publisher "did things wrong" for Battlefield 4's launch - but won't accept it's a "bad product"
Comments2In the months since Battlefield 4’s October(!) release date, DICE have kept their heads down. They’ve postponed all post-release expansions to tackle bugs, and remained deeply apologetic for the high profile cock-up that was the game’s launch.
EA have stuck to a largely similar script throughout - but what they won’t do is call Battlefield a failure.
“We did things wrong,” said chief creative officer Rich Hilleman at the D.I.C.E. Summit in Las Vegas. “We know that. We’re gonna fix those things. We’re gonna try to be smart about what customers want in the future. But I’m not willing to accept – and I don’t think most of my customers are willing to say – ‘it’s a bad product, I wish I didn’t buy it’.”
Making EVE Online better than reality
Comment“EVE is real,” CCP’s Hilmar Petursson boldly stated at DICE last week in his presentation, “The Human Brain is the Platform: Gaming in the Golden Age”. And he didn’t mean real in the way that every piece of media is real, that they exist. He was referencing the goal that CCP set themselves in 2008: create virtual worlds more meaningful than real life.
With countless wars, riots, political maneuvering and the millions of dollars worth of property damage that have taken plane in EVE, he thinks they are on the path to achieving that.
Drink blood and whip some knights: Castlevania: Lords of Shadow 2 demo out tomorrow
Comments2Castlevania: Lords of Shadow 2, MercurySteam’s last Castlevania title before they hand the reins over to another developer, is coming out soon. End of the month soon. But you can spend a special moment with Begbie Dracula tomorrow, February 13th, when Konami releases the demo.
While the Lords of Shadow titles are a massive departure from classic Castlevanias, adding in a slice of God of War and a dash of Devil May Cry, I confess that I’m a big fan of what MercurySteam has attempted. And now you play as Dracula, which is just lovely. He projectile vomits blood. It’s great.
BROFORCE Hits Steam This Summer
Devolver Digital and Free Lives announced that BROFORCE will be coming on PC and consoles this Summer. As its press release reads, BROFORCE will bring the shock and awe as gamers across the globe take control of an under-funded, over-powered paramilitary organization dealing exclusively in excessive force. Pillars Of Eternity Targets A Winter 2014 Release
Obsidian Entertainment is well known for delaying its games. Still, Obsidian is also known for creating games with huge potential. Alpha Protocol had a lot of potential, and the same can be said about KOTOR 2 and Fallout: New Vegas had. So it’s good and bad news that Pillars Of Eternity is now delayed to Winter 2014. February 12, 2014 - Valve, creators of best-selling game franchises (such as Counter-Strike, Dota 2, Half-Life, Left 4 Dead, Portal, and Team Fortress) and leading technologies (such as Steam and Source), today launched user-defined "Tagging" of products on Steam, a leading platform for games and software with over 75 million accounts worldwide.
Now available in beta, Tagging gives Steam customers the ability to "Tag" any title with genres, themes, attributes, or any other term or phrase. The most popular tags on any given product will be surfaced on said product's Steam page and allow users to easily find other products associated with that same tag.
As with the "Recently Updated" section launched last week, Tagging is designed to provide more ways to discover interesting content on Steam.
Additionally, a related product section was launched today, making it easy to browse by any of the frequently used tags assigned by the community.
"As the catalog of products available on Steam continues to grow, we want to ensure that it is easy for customers to find the particular types of games or software they are looking for," says Al Farnsworth of Valve. "With this new feature, we are providing another powerful tool to help organize and browse products on Steam."
User-defined Tagging is available in beta form immediately and is accessible to all Steam users.
