Err...

Batman Arkham City is the best selling updated WiiU port I can find in the DB.  It sold 33k globally first week.  Tomb Raider sold 60k in the USA, first week (or you can divide them by platform, if you prefer).  We know that it got another 27k (or you can divide them by platform, if you prefer) from the UK alone.  I don't really see how that's selling like old "updated" ports did on WiiU.

Yes, I see no reason why you would combine platforms, so you should divide.  There were several Wii U late ports that did very similar to Tomb Raider.  They did a little better than TR on One, worse than PS4 but in the same ballpark.

My comment was mostly tongue-in-cheek, but the point is real: Old ports of PS360 games aren't going to sell well.  3rd parties blamed Wii U for it, but really the result is not unique to that system.

I imagine most Wii U users bought Arkham City because they probably never had a chance of playing the game in the Wii aside from the graphical differences, right?

 

While most next-gen users who bought TR:DE probably wanted to play it solely for the graphical differences. The incentive of buying a game you already played is too small for the next-gen console owners that I'm astounded the PS4 version even sold better than Wii U's best selling ported PS360 game during its first 3weeks in 2 countries alone.

 

You're confused, because you're thinking of things in "brand loyalty" terms, which might be you, but is not the general consumer.  I picked up a Wii U, but my last system was a 360.  I played AA on 360 and loved it, but didn't bother picking it up until years after its release.  So I still hadn't played AC when it came out for you and thus I picked it up for that system since I wanted to see the Gamepad features and bonus content, and I like using the Wii U better than my 360.

That is who you are generally selling old ports to - the people who didn't bother picking up the title on its original release.  I doubt very few of the PS4/One buyers were people who had already played through it last year.  It was people who hadn't bought it but thought about it, and decided to pick up the best version when it came out.  Although I'm sure there are some extra-hardcore fans with who would buy a game twice in one year.

All of your receipts are based on assumptions that Wii U users aren't Nintendo fans who have two or three consoles from the previous gen and that most TRDE buyers didn't bought the PCS360 versions which contrary to your opinion isn't really popular tbh when we're dealing with late ports.

The general belief on late ports is it won't sell that much on next gen consoles related to your previous gen console of your choice which already has the same game on its library.

With that on mind, Arkham City selling less on Wii U is an anomaly.
