In Japan yes, the movement of multiple big name titles shifting to PS1 will have led to a migration of system.
However, the point I was making was more fixed on FFVII and being the biggest selling FF game of all time. This clearly wasn't just from a migrating userbase from SNES to PS1. There were far bigger reasons as to why Final Fantasy VII sold better than any of it's predecessors which is what my post was about. Sorry if that wasn't clear from the quote tree. Was trying to cut it down.
