I wouldnt really see that as a problem to be honest, if you cant pick up the gamepad for eshop browsing/buying every once in a blue moon you're probably better off buying a 3DS

Yea but what about system settings? You need to configure wifi since it doesn't have ethernet adapter and there is a mandatory day 1 update still I believe... Also, I think you do need a gamepad for the initial setup (but I forgot if its nessesary)

These are all small things though, if your main aim is to boot up the console and play games, once you have the setup and buying of things out of the way you can let the tablet battery run out with it stashed away in a cupboard and use the pro controller exclusively until you need to buy something or change settings.
