Nothing sad about it. The industry is made up of third parties for the most part.
The diversity of games from different developers on Playstation and Xbox consoles is not going to be matched on a Nintendo console anytime soon and it's getting worse, so you'll always see higher than usual first party sales on Nintendo consoles.
