Ive always thought about this. The more consoles they've sold. The more money they loss. Therefore amounting to an even larger amount of cumulative loss [in the short term]. 


Yeah, it's a poor business model. Of all 3 companies, you'd think Sony would be the one least willing to take the loss.

 

It will more than work out for them though if they win the gen.

Well one of the reports for the launch said Sony would profit if one game or controller was sold (don't remember if PS+ was necessary as well)... So they aren't losing too much per unit, and I don't see many buying it without any SW. So the prospects are good for the gen... MS haven't spoked about their margin have they? Because most of those break down put Sony and MS with about the same loss/margin around -30/+30 US$ per console... so I think both are good for launch profit.
