They probably see it the same way I see my talk show: there is no Wii U talk show.

The market for Wii U racing sims is zero.  The audience for a Wii U talk show is zero.  Why not create it?  Just because there isn't an existing audience doesn't mean there's zero interest.  The Wii U owners have been some of the MOST outspoken on Project CARS for the Wii U, so I think they're encouraged by this idea.

Though it's no guarantee of success, there's no denying the lack of competition is favorable.

Still, I don't get your point. A game should go where its audience is. As I said I bet you that both X1 and PS4 will sell more copies of this game than the WiiU meaning it reaches a wider audience. The question is why should it go to the WiiU? There is a reason why there is no similar experience like that on the WiiU; because it's not profitable due to the target audience being on other systems.

As I ended up mentioning earlier, if my memory serves me correctly, there is NO racing sim on ANY Nintendo system.

This isn't about the audience not being interested, it's that it's never even been targeted to begin with.  It COULD create its own audience on the Wii U, and yet you're kind of straying from my overall point...  Though I would bet that Project CARS would do better on PS4 than XBox1 since XBox1 already has Forza 5...

In your OP you are talking about profitabliliy. It might be profitable on the WiiU. It will be more profitable on the PS4/X1. That's their plan; making money. Don't know what you don't get about that plan.

Also you're being kind of ignorant and unfair to the game by saying it doesn't offer anything against the 2 big franchises. I'm not a sim fan myself so I can only guess what people see in these games.  There are new tracks, cars,physics and visuals. Racing sims are pussing reality so there is always room for more games that push the reality a bit farther. For god's sake,  Forza 5 doesn't even have weather or night. There are lots of things that will drive racing sim fans to this game, especially on X1. The only thing that will drive sales on the WiiU will be curiosity. No one who hoped to play a next gen racing sim bought a WiiU for that and now that it's coming for the other consoles as will no one will buy a WiiU for that.
