The game will sell better on X1 and PS4 than on WiiU despite the competing franchises. The question is why are they wasting money by developing it for WiiU ;)

They probably see it the same way I see my talk show: there is no Wii U talk show.

The market for Wii U racing sims is zero.  The audience for a Wii U talk show is zero.  Why not create it?  Just because there isn't an existing audience doesn't mean there's zero interest.  The Wii U owners have been some of the MOST outspoken on Project CARS for the Wii U, so I think they're encouraged by this idea.

Though it's no guarantee of success, there's no denying the lack of competition is favorable.

Edit: Typos

And just because there is an existing audience doesn't mean there's zero interest either..

If the existing audience is satiated, then they have zero interest.  What does Project CARS offer that Gran Turismo and Forza doesn't?

Games don't need to offer anything new to sell. They just need to appeal to an existing audience. Gran Turismo games come out every 4 years or so. That's not saturating anyone. Forza is a yearly thing but some people don't like Forza or like racing games enough to buy multiple of them in the same year.

Look at what the popularity of the CoD series brought to the FPS genre. We saw hundreds of games similar to CoD sell millions of copies without offering anything substantially new.

As far as I can tell, that didn't happen at all.  There weren't hundreds of other military shooters that sold millions of copies.

The only game to come close to putting a dent in it was Battlefield, but that's also an established franchise.

I did just address above that the PS4 version will probably outsell the XBox1 version simply because XBox1 already has Forza 5.

You're point was that there's no interest in Project CARS on the PS4 and XBO because there are already other games like it but that's clearly wrong because history shows that people buy more than one games from genre they like. Henceforth there's absolutely no reason to believe that fans of Forza or Gran Turismo can't be fans of Project CARS either.
