Where are the sources that Sony making tons of monies on PS4?

He was talking about the actual console sales were the reason. Ps+ really has nothing to do with the argument.

What he said was that the PS4 is the first Sony console that made them profit in its first quarter, he never said it was only because of console sales. When he said "record breaking launch of the PS4" I'm pretty sure he meant everything that came with that launch, so the console, software, accessory and of course PS+ sales.

It seem your interruption of what he was saying and not what he actually said. When he said "because of record breaking sales at launch." He directly saying that gain is from the ps4 hardware sales. He definitely implying that the cause was hardware and effect was the profit. Usage of the word "due to" means to single out a specific cause and "record breaking" is only the ps4. Unless he misspoke, I have the right to go by what he actual said and not what he could have meant.

Second, dude Ethomaz' english is good but far from perfect (no offense to you, if you happen to read this Ethomaz), so a mistake like this wouldn't be surprising in this case. Also quite frankly it seems that you're interpreting a lot more than me if you think that he seriously meant console sales only.

If you read my post and you admit his poor grammar than your agreeing with me. I said that he could have misspoke and based on that my response was valid because it was based on what he wrote. Unless I know the guy, there is no way I am going to respond in a manner that takes this into consideration. 

On the final point, that mine interpretation is more complex. My taking his post literally, your is taking into account a personally and how actual thinks/types. Your interpretation requires an assumption on how a person thinks, that simply can't proven unless he states it himself. 

You seem to suggest that your interpretation is the only possible one. It IS thanks to those record breaking sales that the game division made a profit, but indirectly. Sales of ps+ tripled after the ps4 launch. Had it sold less, there would be less ps+ subscriptions. The console also sells games, which are more expensive than ps3 games. And it seems that the ps4 camera is quite successful. Again, without the record breaking sales, who would have bought all these things that helped Sony make a profit? The profit is thanks to the ps4; not the hardware itself, but whatever extra it is that people buy for the ps4. The way he phrased it is absolutely fine. Had he said, "thanks to making x on each standalone console sold", you'd have a point. At the moment, you don't.

If you say to someone that "it's thanks to the ps+ subscriprions and software sales", one could assume you're referring to ps3/psvita related sales. The ps4 is what made the difference, hence why it gets the credit.
