Well in the last quarter Sony shipped 7.8m PS4+PS3, MS shipped almost that many XBO+X360 (7.4m). But nintendo also shipped 2m WII U's so Sony lost ground (-1.6 m).

you are overestimating PS3 vs 360 for one. as the corporate numbers show 360 is currently selling as well as PS3 if not a tiny bit better, but it's basically a tie. So a 3 million final edge for PS3 is unlikely since 360 has currently outsold PS3 worldwide according to Sony/MS (the 80 million announcements where Sony was 3 weeks behind, added with current sales knowledge, suggest 360 maintains a slim lead).

Basically to admit MS sold almost as many home consoles as Sony in the last quarter of 2013, which they did, you either have to admit PS4 isn't beating XO by that much, or 360 is beating PS3 handily.

Now, PS4 will gain more on XBO I dont dispute that, because PS4 is sold out while XBO is not. Still, the numbers we have are the numbers we have.

Now can it happen? Well it could, but I doubt it will. I'd sell Wii U way short, I dont think it will even hit 20m. It's basically dead imo, and Nintendo has admitted they cant cut the price which is the only thing that would give it a death rattle. Hell it may not top 10m the way it's going.

But I bet XO will keep it close or even beat PS4 in the long run, preventing this scenario. All MS needs is one price cut to be back in the game against PS4.

Also I dont doubt it but PS2 finished up at 161m? I thought it was more like 150m.

Edit: well it appears one official figure was 153m as of early 2011, so, yeah 161 is reasonable. I suppose since they did that combine with PS3 thing we cant exactly know.
