If I said I liked Need For Speed: Hot Pursuit on the PS but couldn't get into the newest Need for Speed for reasons that make the game fun I would hope people ask me the same thing. This isn't kind of any criticism on anyone, but if you don't like the core mechanics of a game then it makes sense that the game isn't for you. Tasty may have been a fan at one point but if he doesn't like the things that make Mario Kart Mario Kart that are known to be in the next iteration, then why do you think he would like it? It's perfectly fine that he doesn't like a game and doesn't really affect anyone in any way at all. What isn't fine is people that take things too seriously and for some odd reason think everything is some kind of personal attack. |
Need for Speed just went more sim in the latest version. Burnout completely changed the model for racing. Midnight Club is getting a more full city environment.
Games evolve. Why have motorcycles or online features in this Mario Kart? I certainly didn't expect motorcycles, nor did I want them. However, a lot of people are excited about it...because it's different!
Wanting the core game to remain the same, or to return to what it was in earlier mario karts (NO BLUE TURTLE SHELL), isn't such a bad thing. I just want some options.
Edit: I just want to clarify that I don't share the original poster's complaints in their entirety. But to say that just because a feature (or lack of feature) is a "staple of the series" is no reason to question whether someone is a fan of a series or not. He clearly listed all the positives and wants to be excited about the game.
Online play was not a staple. 12-player battle was not a staple. Motorcycles certainly not a staple. In DD, 2-player karts were not a staple. Multiple stats for karts was not a staple in Super Mario Kart. Games evolve, so hoping for certain features to be added or for the gameplay to be tweaked is natural, and some of his cons are good points.
