The american market is where the psp is holding its own against the DS (be it only just)
Nintendo do need to lure big western 3rd parties to the DS to get these talented companies to create something brilliantly new and not waste their efforts making ports of games that they have already made on other systems.
Do that and sony will have no choice but to innovate or leave the handheld market
No, sir. Western third parties treat all portables like crap. Look at when the GBA had the total monopoly. They produced shit there too. It appears that only the Eastern third parties EVEN CARE about putting original content on portables.
So who cares if the PSP gets the click-and-drag, PS2 port, lazy American third parties? You're telling me that they should stop porting on the DS? That's ALL THEY DO on the PSP. And that behavior gets reinforced whne the ports do well and the original titles flop. Nintendo knows handhelds right, so that's why they aggressively sought the Japanese third parties, because they make the best quality and the best selling handheld games. In this market, Western developers can go hang until they wise up.
