I just wondered about the overall decline of sales. I love my Wii U and the only thing that bothers me is wheter it'll get assassins creed 5.

back to the topic - if Wii was an anomaly and this can't be repeated for now, then why my first (home) console was Wii, which got me into gaming and I bought PS3 and Wii U then?

I can't seem to believe that PS4 and 3ds will be selling so well forever. 3ds was perfect in 2013, it's falling a bit now. PS4 might be perfect this year, but it can't go like that forever. A decline in 2015? quite possible IMO.

Thing is, the Wii and DS brought a lot of people who had never really played, and also, I believe, people who quit after the NES.The Wii was like NES 2.0

So, with those people gone, we see a scenario that´s more like the 6th generation (PS2/GCN/Xbox/GBA) or even the 5th gen.

PS2  - ~155 million

GCN - ~22 million

Xbox - ~24 million

GBA - ~80 million

Combined = around 280 million

No console will do PS2 numbers.There´s a (high?) chance the Wii U will perform worse than the GCN.The 3DS might (or perhaps, it seems likely) sell worse than the GBA, but I don´t think the difference will be very big in the end.

The X1 will do much better than the Xbox, even if things right now look bad in Europe, I just don´t know if it´ll sell as well as the 360.

The PS4 will probably do pretty well.Right now, I don´t see any reason why it shouldn´t at least sell around 80/85/90 million, but this generation just started, lots of things could happen.

Overall, we´ll see a contraction, but don´t mistake that for the apocalyptic scenario some are trumpeting.
