Should Nintendo talking about the Wii U successor scare me from buying one?

No company would abandon a console like that. That would doom them forever. Nintendo has to sit Wii U out and fix it. Or go through another 4.5 years of losses. Till the next one. And you can't design a new system within 1 year and release it properly. It would be 3 messes on top of each other.
