I'm kinda surprised it received its own 3DS. Was the FF Theatrhythm game that successful?

According to VGChartz data it sold less than 500,000 and sold more in the US than it did in Japan.  Even with that, the system will still more than likely remain Japanese exclusive

*edit*.

When Japan gets something exclusive, it's usually argued that it won't make much money in the west, but what about when the same game sold more in the west and Japan is still getting an exclusive release.  I honestly think the Japanese are racist against the west, so where publishing something wouldn't make them much money, they don't care, but publishing something that they think will make them high profit, they're good with that.  Yet in Japan, they're fine with releasing something that will make them a marginable amount of income.

Not everyone is racist though.  NIS releases just about everything they've got over to the west despite marginal returns.  Not that I'm a fan of NIS games.  Except for Prinny and Prinny 2, I think most of what they've developed is pretty mediocre.
