There's also nothing to support the common idea "the gap wll grow" It might just as well shrink. In fact it's commonly said PS4 is easier to program for than X1, which directly suggests the gap will shrink (programmers will tap out the easy system, faster).

As for exclusives, if the best looking PS4 exclusive is said to be Shadowfall, I dont think XB1 has much to worry about, as that game isn't particularly impressive imo. It looks good, but not that much better than X1 exclusives or even last gen really.

It will depend on the developers though. We know Sony's first party will squeeze everything they possibly can out of the machine. Will MS first or third party do the same? Last gen we saw what happened when one console was lagging in sales and harder to program for.

I don't agree it doesn't look that much better than last gen. There's a huge difference. That said, expect the next title coming out of GG to look far better. If you take a look at some of their presentatation slides, they acknowledge large areas of their engine that can be improved, launch time constraits just didn't allow them to be realised.

The same will obviously be true for other studios in the MS camp, like Turn 10 for example. However, GG are known for pushing the envelope technically, so I expect, if the technical differences are as big as they seem to be at present (recent ports, resolution, framerates etc.) then the higher end sony studios will start outputting titles with very notceably jumps in visual quality over the next few years.
