If the PS4 numbers aren't over 200,000 next week It can only be down to two possibilities: Sony are stockpiling for Japan OR they can't produce the rumoured 1.2 million (some think 1.4 million) a month. People have been tracking the sales on Amazon and it's selling out constantly and are no reports of stock being freely available at retailers for more than a day, so I can only assume it's still selling out regularly. These numbers just seem wrong to me.

I have no doubt it will break 5 million in Japan. The amount that's missing from these numbers would mean they'd have to sell 500,000 (at least) in the first week. If they don't, this site is wrong or Sony can't produce 1.2 - 1.4 million a month.

So you think the PS4 will sell .5 mil at launch in Japan, that would mean by Mid/End Feb we are looking at 5.8 maybe 5.9 Mil

My original number for the fiscal year was 6.5, so yes, I'm expecing the PS4 to be around 6 million by the beginning of March. Even if it doesn't sell 500,000 (God only knows where those consoles are hiding) I believe it will hit that number. If it does hit 500,000 in Japan then 6.8 - 7 million is possible IMO.

Well I beieve VGC has the numbers slightly undertracked and they're more than a week behind. Right now I'd say the PS4 is sitting at around 5.2 million. There has been a bit of a lull with AAA titles but we recently had Tombraider which sold better on the PS4 and Thief is up next. These should drive sales further (if the consoles are there). I originally said 6.5 myself but many have made a case for 7 million and I find myself struggling to entirely disagree.
