You gotta imagine that Sony's been holding some product for the upcoming Asian launch.

I agree that they may be holding some back, but the rumoured 1.2m+ per month suggests they are producing 300k per week. Surely they can't be holding back half of what they produce every week. Its either that or they aren't producing as much as they are rumoured to be.
