I like having a 3DS... but I honestly barely use it.

The 3DS just doesn't cater to my personal taste, but I do enjoy playing Nintendo games in small doses. I'm going to buy Smash Bros.

The Vita appeals to me more, but library of interesting exclusives is too small.

Honestly if I didn't travel A LOT, I would say my Vita, and any handheld gaming device; was also a waste.  If you have a console or PC, then that is usually more fun to play at home.  Also, any ok laptop (Intel HD 4000 and up) is better for when you are on the go.

I mean think about it.  Do you know what is better than the 3DS/Vita line up?  The entire catalog of PC games.  If you have any laptop made in the past 2 years you are good to run anything up to Skyrim/Fallout 3 at playable settings.

AND if you are just bored for a couple minutes, pull out a smart phone and google something or go on Cracked.com.  Seriously dedicated handheld gaming is pretty much pointless.

Agreed, I'd much rather game on a laptop. However, handheld consoles still have advantages. Vita and 3DS are easier to carry around, are relatively cheap, and they have software not available on other platforms.

I've used and will continue to use my 3DS just enough to not consider it a waste. But I'm certainly disappointed by the software as a whole. Its seems to be for people that really enjoy JRPGs or 1st party platformers.

Yep, that's me with the Vita.  I fly all the time so the Vita gets a lot of use there, but if I didn't travel a lot I don't think I would reccomend it to someone...
