Xbox exlusives do sell better, no doubt about that. But I have to say I think the PS list is much more varied. The Xbox list has 9 franchises (counting the kinect games as individuals) vs. 13 for the PS list.

The Xbox list is largely made up of just Halo and Gears games. 7 of the top 10 games come from one of those two franchises.

So they sell well, but mostly because they don't try anything new.

Uhh? So it's a good thing that MS milks a franchise to death? They don't have more franchises they just have a couple that they make over and over and over and over again.

There is actually a lot of logical fallicy in your post. I'll go through it.

1. Gran Turismo 6 had been for 7 weeks at the most recent data point. It also launched after the PS4 came out and we already knew that the next game is coming out within 2 years. Hardly a 1-1 comparison.

2. The next Infamous game is looking like it will not only outsell the last one but will be the best selling game in the franchise. It's U.S. pre-orders are already higher than the first games week 1 U.S. sales.

3. You disregard Resistance and Motorstorm as being "massivley bundled" but make no mention of Kinect adventures (which came with every kinect) and Halo 4 which has come with most of the non-kinect 250gb 360s in the U.S. for almost a year now.

I agree'd with you, the sell better. But I disagree with the implication that somehow the MS exclusives are "better". They are simply a revolving door of the same couple of games with the only exceptions being kinect games which measure up to little more than the MS version of Wii Sports.

That is the point - THEY DON'T!

IF they milked their franchises to death, Halo 4 would not sell 10 million units.

For point 1. Sure GT6 is not that long on the market yet, but it is obvious it won't even reach 50% of GT5 in the next 2 years. That was my point, the sales dropped. And GT6 released 7 years after the PS3 launch - so did Halo 4.

Point 2. New gen, nuff said. PS4 is hot right now and there aren't any big games coming out to compete against.

Point 3. I used every game and did not care about bundles. Halo 3 and Halo Reach were bundled as well and MS confirmed that Halo 4 was the best selling Microsoft game ever.

I never said MS games are better by default. They are just bigger games (in terms of sales) and MS understands how to use them properly. Sony is really bad when it comes to the management of their studios and game portfolio. The only studio producing good games that actually sell in a reasonable period of time is Naughty Dog.

Look at SCE Japan: Team ICO created 2 games in 13 years (!!!) and the only "game" they released for the PS3 was a remake of these first 2 games. They failed to release a new game for a whole generation. Isn't that ridiculous? Imagine how big their franchises could be if they were managed the right way. A new (quality) ICO-game every 2-3 years should not be too much to ask for.

Look at Polyphony Digital and the Gran Turismo debacle. 5 years for GT 5 and it received average / mixed reviews. GT 6 scored even lower and sells worse than any GT before.

Look at Santa Monica 2 games in 8 years and one of them flopped. So much potential wasted. Sure they helped other studios, but those games flopped as well. (PSABR, Sorcery, Starhawk)

And that were just the studios. It is a slap in Sonys face that Microsoft builds up a TV studio from the scratch, hires great staff and produces a TV series for their franchises, before Sony even thought about it. Sony has one of the biggest and best movie studios on this planet FFS! Why don't they use it to promote their games as well?

A "The Last of Us" TV series might have been something, don't you think? It can be successful for non-gamers and can make these viewers curious to try the game. On top of that, it would be a cool fan service for the core base.

A lot of people say, Sony fails with their marketing of these titles, but this is not true IMO. They fail to manage their studios well.

This has nothing to do with "bad marketing is to blame that game XYZ did not sell well" or "MS just milks their franchises!". This is a management issue for Sony and MS plays it way smarter right now.

MS did not do a good job for their hardware-pricing. They wanted to cash in and I can understand them, but there were a lot of things they could have done better before the launch. I am not saying they did or are doing everything right, but their portfolio and studio-management is way better than Sonys.

We are going offtopic now... ehm NICE VID!

You're are technically right. From a buisness perspective  MS does a better job at picking what games they make and turning there games into money. But what I'm saying is that I don't agree with the MS stategy of just taking what works and milking it until it outlives it's usefulness.

Look at Halo, just because they still sell well doesn't mean that MS isn't going to run the series into the ground. It just means that the series still has life left. Another series to look at is Gears. Instead of letting those series end when the developers that started them decided it was time to move on, MS bought them and stuck two other devs with making more Halo and Gears games becase they cold make the most money off of them. Two devs who could have instead been making something new and fresh for the MS fanbase.

The way MS does things with it's exclusives is better for MS, but not for gamers.

P.S. Sony has a Gran Turismo movie coming out. We've known about this for some time.
