Platinum Games: Only see this as a option if Nintendo gets promises that the talent sticks around.
A merger/takeover with/by/of a major Western player like Valve, Google or whoever would do wonders for openning Nintendo up to more revenue from other areas. The main issue would be how to do it while strickly being considered a "Japanese company" which is a massive area of importance in Japan. Maybe a partner ship could be worked out instead of full blown merger/take over but whatever the case, Nintendo getting nearly exclusive hardware with access to Steam or Android markets would be a massive boost for the company.
